How we can rebuild Vallejo:

Restore public safety by exploring innovative funding sources to pay for police officers and firefighters. I worked with Kaiser Permanente to form a partnership with the city to hire three new police officers and re-establish a crime suppression unit to deal with prostitution, drugs, and other crimes impacting our quality of life.

Create “Green Tech” Island by attracting green energy companies to invest in Mare Island and generate thousands of jobs. Mare Island can serve as a renewable energy hub that focuses on research, manufacturing, and trade. By partnering with all the colleges in Vallejo we can train the workforce needed to fill these jobs.

Balance our budget & create reserves so that we preserve and ensure our recovery. We must continue to find sustainable funding solutions, such as consolidation of services and public-private partnerships so we do not rely only on taxes and the state budget.

Pave our streets and clean up blight. Filling potholes is one little-big thing that the city can do to dramatically improve our quality of life. Cleaning up blight – especially on the streets that lead into town and in our business districts – will leave us all (and our visitors) with a better impression of Vallejo. Yes, looks do count when you are trying to attract jobs and investment!

Reinvest in our youth by investing in after-school programs and youth job training. By creating partnerships with the school district and local businesses, the City can help our youth thrive. Our kids need access to the music, arts, and sports programs that help get them off the street. If our youth have jobs, they’ll be less likely to resort to crime.
